Founded in January 2017, the NGO Empodera - Social Transformation through Sport is a non-profit civil association based in Rio de Janeiro and operating nationwide. Their actions use the educational bias of sport to promote the empowerment of girls and young women, the reduction of harmful stereotypes and gender-based violence, in the interest of a more just and equitable society.
