This project is supported by L'OCCITANE Brazil.

Context

The western zone of Rio de Janeiro concentrates the largest number of cases of feminicide and rape as well as more than 60% of cases of violence against women in the city. Empodera is a non-profit organization that wants to act in this area by promoting the empowerment of Brazilian girls and women in order for them to exercise their full potential and rights, through sport and bodily practices.

Supported Project

In 2024-2025, L'OCCITANE Brazil supported the Elzas Project led by the charity Empodara. The project aims to meet the demand of responsible women (mothers, grandmothers and aunts) to strengthen their capabilities and knowledge to break cycles of violence and develop their economic autonomy. This project revolves around a training course about employability, entrepreneurship and combating violence, as well as cultural activities and workshops to guide them towards income generation opportunities.
