Context
This project starts with the study of the history of agriculture and how it affected our territory over the time. Deforestation and intensive agricultural exploitation of soils by man’s hands brought to major issues such as the high rate of aridity in the summer season, soil erosion resulting in the leaching of nutrients and landslides, the little diversity of plant and animal species, etc. Followinf the in-depth study of the endemic plants of the territory, including edible and officinal plants and the analysis of the water intakr of the area, Rocciaviva decided to intervene.
Supported Project
In 2023-2024, the L'Occitane Foundation supports Rocciaviva Rigenera project, which aim is not only to enrich the soil and foster the blooming of biodiversity not only with reforestation but a 360° intervention on the relationship between human and nature. We plan to reforest 40 hectares with local species and restore three lakes with their flow of water. We want to become an example of enhancement of ecosystem services. Finally, we want to focus on agroforestry and production of fruits and nuts so that the local community is involved, and the economy can benefit.
