Context
Uncorrected Refractive Errors is one of the two major causes of avoidable blindness as stated in the Vision 2020 initiative, of the World Health Organisation. In Malaysia, Sarawak has the second highest Visual Impairment in Malaysia, based on the National Eye Survey 2014 of the Malaysian Ministry of Health.
Supported project
In 2018-2019, L'OCCITANE MALAYSIA and the L'OCCITANE Foundation supported the project of the Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital. This project aimed provide complimentary eye care services to the rural population, welfare homes residents, orphanages, urban poor, ... These services were dedicated to the people who were unable to afford basic eye care, which improved their quality of life. This Cataract Project aimed to provide complimentary cataract surgery to restore vision and minimize the risk of Cataract affecting their livelihood.
