This project is supported by L'OCCITANE China.

Context

Because of economic and technical reasons, there is a shortage in eye care services in Chinese rural areas, especially in Western China. In these areas, there are more orphans, left-behind and vulnerable children in need for more care and support on eyesight. Moreover, some impoverished families can’t afford the surgery fee and are forced to give up on treatment, which means that the risk of turning blind increases with children’s growth.

Supported Project

In 2024-2025, L'OCCITANE China funded "Eyes for Future", an Ai You Foundation's project located in the Sichuan Province. It aims to carry out eye health screening and generalize eye health in elementary school and junior high schools in the county with the support of the Leading Group Office for the Protection of Minors as well as matching projects funded by the local government and the joint efforts of local hospitals. In order to detect eye disease, free eyesight screening are conducted in primary and secondary schools, while spectacles are offered to vulnerable children to facilitiate optical correction. Finally, the Foundation fund surgeries for underprivileged children with eye diseases with their designated partner the West China Second University Hospital.
