This project is supported by L'Occitane en Provence's Manufactures.
Context
With rising temperatures and irregular rainfall, certain forest species will soon no longer be at home in their usual ecosystem. The pedunculate oaks in the communal forest of Vagnas and Salavas bear witness to these climatic changes. Today, they are remnants of a relict forest that can also be found in other parts of the Mediterranean region.
Supported Project
In 2025-2026, L'Occitane en Provence's Manufactures support ONF's project acting for cataloguing a population of remarkable Mediterranean pedunculate oak trees and its reintroducing through a combination of gentle methods and traditional regeneration. By conducting a census of existing pedunculate oaks, foresters will be able to better understand their autecology and reintroduce the species to sites with conditions favourable to its development.
