Context

Since the Taiwanese government lifted the ban on logging in public and community forests, timber imports have increased, which has had a negative impact on biodiversity. This is why, in recent years, the Council of Agriculture's Bureau of Forestry has actively promoted sustainable forestry to protect her. These practices can indeed enhance the ability of forests to sequester atmospheric carbon, while improving other ecosystem services.

Supported Project

In 2025-2026, L'Occitane en Provence Taiwan supports Yongzai Forestry's to promote sustainable forestry focusing on two main areas, the biodiversity investigation and sustainable forest management. Through regular monitoring and patrols, teams record and catalogue any anomalies and the progress of forestry operations. In addition, infrared cameras are used to monitor wildlife activity and assess whether forestry work has had an impact on their behaviour. At the same time, the expansion of forest areas, improved forest management and increased use of domestic wood aim to significantly boost forest carbon sequestration.
