This project is supported by L'OCCITANE Taiwan.

Context

In Taiwan, the inappropriate exploitation of plantations affects biodiversity. This is why in the recent years the Bureau of Forestry of the Council of Agriculture has actively advocated for sustainable forestry to protect biodiversity. Those practices can indeed increase the ability of forests to sequester atmospheric carbon while enhancing other ecosystem services.  Forest management - planting new trees, improving the forests' health - and climate change planning will contribute to the sustainable use of resources.

Supported Project

In 2024-2025, L'OCCITANE Taiwan supported a Yongzai Forestry's project aiming to protect, restore and promote a sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, while sustainably managing forests, fighting desertification, and reversing land degradation and biodiversity loss. By supporting the Forestry Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, this project monitors over 122 ha of forest farm and ten thousands tree species in the Pintung area. It enables the monitoring of biodiversity and the reforestation of the region by planting new trees more suitable for the environement and removing the damaging ones.
