Context

According to the United Nations, in the world, one in three women is a victim of physical or sexual violence, most often at the hands of an intimate partner. The European Union Fundamental Rigths Agency (FRA) has recently showned that the number of women directly impacted by domestic abuse across Ireland has increased: 35% of women (more than 1 in 3) have experienced psychological, physical and/ or sexual abuse from an intimate partner. Since 1974, Women's Aid fights against the impact of domestic violence and abuse in Ireland.

Supported Project

In 2024-2025, L'OCCITANE Ireland is supporting Women's Aid in its project to distribute funds to women subjected to domestic abuse through its face-to-face services. The charity seeks to provide those women with in depth emotional and practical support through one-to-one meetings, drop in visits at the court support service, maternity outreach, and a high-risk support project. In addition, the funds serve to support women in financial difficulties because of domestic violence. They include a range of urgent and practical needs such as CCTV and other home security costs, bills, groceries etc.
