This project is supported by L'Occitane en Provence UK.

Context

In England, at least one woman is killed by a partner or ex partner every week. Despite the urgency of the situation, there is a disconnect between survivors and decision-makers, as well as between national ambitions and local and regional practices. For over 50 years, Women’s Aid has been working to end violence against and women and children across the country. The various local federations provide over 300 victim support services, and policy and campaign teams work to influence the UK Government and policymakers to improve their response to domestic violence for all victims.

Project Supported

In 2025–2026, L’Occitane en Provence UK supports Women’s Aid UK by funding the development and expansion of the Experts by Experience network. This initiative empowers survivors by providing opportunities to build skills and confidence in using their lived experience. Women’s Aid provides a network of peer support for survivors who engage with policy and campaigning work and giving them access to workshops and wellbeing sessions. Policy improvements driven by survivor input will benefit future survivors of domestic abuse by reflecting the reality of their needs and improving the response and support available.
