Shanghai Roots & Shoots is a subsidiary of Jane Goodall Institute, was founded as a volunteer organization in November 1999 and was granted a Non-Profit Organization status by the Shanghai City Government in 2004. It aims to implementing positive changes through active learning about, caring for, and interacting with the environment, while providing young people with the knowledge, tools and hopeful inspiration to improve the environment and the quality of life for people and animals.
