Purpose

Globally, at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment, and of these, at least 1 billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented1. Without significant investment, vision loss will rise to 1.7 billion people by 20502. However, improved eye health is essential to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including those pertaining to poverty, hunger, health and wellbeing, education, gender equality, and decent work3.

At L'OCCITANE, we want to live in a world where everyone can see and experience the beauty that nature has to offer. That's why Caring For Sight is one of L'OCCITANE’s historic commitments. In 1997, Braille was added to the packaging of most products. Every year since 2000, L'OCCITANE has sold a new solidarity product to raise funds to help its partner NGOs fight avoidable blindness around the world. In 2006, the L'OCCITANE Foundation was created to bring together and develop the philanthropic actions undertaken by the brand, including its support for eye care projects. L'OCCITANE, its subsidiaries and its Foundation have already helped 15 million people and have set the goal of reaching 20 million eye care beneficiaries by 2025.

In September 2022, the L’OCCITANE Foundation is launching a new Call for Projects, aiming to support eye care projects in 4 critical areas where needs are the greatest4 :
-  Latin American & the Caribbean, Central Europe
-  Eastern Europe & Central Asia
-  Southeast Asia, East Asia & Oceania
-  South Asia.
