Context

In Burkina Faso, women's financial autonomy is key to the socio-economic development of the poorest communities. However, not all women have access to training, and even fewer have access to the capital required to develop their activities.

Supported project

In this context, the L'OCCITANE Foundation supported in 2020-2021 the Entrepreneurs du Monde (EDM) project aimed at empowering rural women in Burkina Faso through a global approach to microfinance combining financial services and training. More specifically, this project aimed to enable women in the provinces of Houët, Sissili, Ziro, Sanguié, Bougouriba and the rural communes of Tanghin-Dassouri and Pabré and villages to have permanent access to credit and socio-economic services (training, awareness-raising, advisory support) adapted to their needs.

Partnership history

Project supported since 2019

The L'OCCITANE Foundation has been supporting the microfinance project developed by the EDM association since 2019. This project was greatly inspired by the recommendations of women from L'OCCITANE's partner shea unions, women with a better understanding of the living conditions of rural women in general.
