Context

Chile is a country with over 1.5 million blind and visually impaired people: almost 8% of the population. For these individuals, integrating into the workplace and society is challenging, with organisations often ill-adapted to their needs.

Supported project

In 2018, L’OCCITANE Chile supported Fundación Luz in setting up its "Early Stimulation" programme: a project that enables children under five with a visual impairment to develop a better understanding of their problem and manage it more successfully day-to-day by learning to read braille or move about safely. The project also rise awareness among families.

Testimonial

"I'm Sara and I'm Emilia's mum. My daughter benefited from the programme last year. We had tried having Emilia operated on to give her back her eyesight but it didn't work, so we enrolled her in the Fundación Luz programme. She found it a positive and stimulating experience, while I learnt a lot of things that will help me support her better with her blindness. I'd now like her to go to school and study."
