Context

Certain rural regions of Myanmar record the highest levels of blindness in the world. Cataracts are the main cause of blindness and are detrimental to the socio-economic development of local communities. In view of this, adequate eye treatment could improve the quality of life of these inhabitants. The adults could this generate income with which to support their families.

The L'OCCITANE Foundation and L'OCCITANE Myanmar support the Vishaka Foundation with a view to providing eye care to the rural communities of Myanmar. The project aims to provide ocualr screening to local communities, as well as suitable treatment and surgical procedures for those in need. Furthermore, the project also aims to consolidate the medical services already in place by reinforcing the expertise of the medical teams and providing the necessary equipment.
