Context

Myanmar has one of the highest blindness prevalence rates in the world. But being one of the poorest countries in the world, its health sector suffers from a lack of financial support, in terms of both human resources and medical equipment.

Supported Project

In 2018 - 2019, L'OCCITANE Myanmar and the L'OCCITANE Foundation supported the Visakha Foundation's project, which aimed to diagnose and treat blindness in underdeveloped rural areas in Myanmar that lacked financial support, eye care facilities and trained healthcare professionals.

Therefore, this poject provided support to these communities so that trained health personnel could perform cataract surgery, dispense prescription glasses, distribute eye medication, and provide eye care knowledge to people in need. Through these services, the project contributed towards lowering the prevalence of blindness in Myanmar.
