This project is supported by the Taiwanese subsidiary of L'OCCITANE en Provence.

Context

According to domestic research, glaucoma and retinal macular disease is the major cause of blindness in Taiwan. Among the visually impaired population in Taiwan, up to 90% are blindness caused by acquired factors, but in fact, more than 80% of visual impairment can be avoided!

More than 80% of the elderly have weak knowledge and concepts of eye care, and nearly 50% of them need to actively undergo regular eye examinations. If an early detection was conducted, the risk of potential blindness will be significantly lower.

Supported Project

In 2022-2023, L'OCCITANE Taiwan supports the project of the Light of Love association aiming to promote eye health for local communities in Taiwan.

Free screenings are organized in order to detect as soon as possible the potential pathologies from which the populations suffer. In addition, educational events are organized with the aim of highlighting the importance of eye health and raising awareness of the first do-it-yourself eye screening procedures, particularly to detect glaucoma and retinal macular degeneration.
