From October 27th to the 30th, the 10th General Assembly of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) took place in Durban, South Africa.
Working with the L'OCCITANE Foundation, the IAPB is an umbrella organization with more than 125 international NGOs involved in the prevention of blindness. With the World Health Organization (WHO), these two commit for the right to sight.
The 10th General Assembly of the IAPB in South Africa was the opportunity for the L'OCCITANE Foundation to develop new projects to help reach the 10 million beneficiaries by 2020.
During this congress, the Foundation co-signed with the South African subsidiary a new convention with the Brien Holden Vision Institute to conduct vision screenings in schools and provide eyeglasses for more than 70,000 children this year
L'OCCITANE Sight Awards
It was also the time to reward Dr Wondu Alemayehu and Dr Zhareen Khair for their work in the fight against avoidable blindness in Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
The L’OCCITANE Sight Awards are two grants of €50 000 each which will allow them to advance in their research and continue to innovate in the vision field!

Eye Health Heroes: everyday heroes!
In partnership with the IAPB, L'OCCITANE Foundation honored the Eye Health Heroes, experts who participate daily in actions to reduce visual impairment and avoidable blindness in the world.
