Context

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. According to the Turkish Ophthalmological Association, only 550,000 people are diagnosed with glaucoma, a quarter of all patients with the disease. Glaucoma irreversibly affects the optic nerve. Thus, the earlier the disease is detected, the easier it will be to provide adequate treatment to prevent blindness. Thus, a good diagnosis is the first step towards an appropriate treatment.

Supported project

In 2019-2020, L'OCCITANE Turkey and the Foundation supported Six Dots Foundation for the blind in its glaucoma prevention and screening project. Screening were organized in an eye health center supported by the association. The objective was to detect this pathology as early as possible in order to treat it and avoid irreversible blindness. To do this, the use of the Pachymeter was essential, as it enabled the thickness of the cornea to be assessed and therefore glaucoma to be detected in patients.
