Fund-raising and natural soaps currently sold in L’OCCITANE stores
What is The « United to Save Sight » Campaign?
Every year since 2006, L’OCCITANE and the L’OCCITANE Foundation launch the «United to Save Sight» campaign. L’OCCITANE develops and sells a fund-raising product in its stores, and 100% of the proceeds are donated to charities fighting blindness. The International NGO ORBIS has been our main partner on this project for 8 years. They work on blindness prevention and treatment in developing countries. Why does the L’OCCITANE Foundation support the visually impaired?
According to the World Health Organization, 37 million people are blind and 135 million are visually impaired. But 75% of these problems could have been avoided with very little means. Every minute, a child become blind due to a lack of treatment.
L’OCCITANE company has always been very committed to help fighting avoidable blindness. This theme has become one of the fields of action of the L’OCCITANE Foundation who tries to support the visually impaired in Burkina Faso and Bangladesh and to promote their professional integration in France.
The fund-raising products since 2005

Last year with the solidarity product 2008, the “Animal Soap Set”, we collected 163 000 Euros and we gave it to ORBIS for their actions in Bangladesh. This money allowed to examine and treat more than 20,000 patients, train local staff and settle an hospital in an isolated rural area.
The 2009 project: the « Moments of Africa Soap Set »
In 2009 the soaps are also manufactured in Burkina Faso. So this solidarity product has a dual purpose: collect money to fight avoidable blindness in Bangladesh and pass on skills to women in Burkina on how to launch a new soap-making business.
This year, the fund-raising product sold in L’OCCITANE stores is a set of three soaps, the « Moments of Africa Soap Set ». We plan to collect enough money to help ORBIS establish three eye hospitals in the three undeserved and rural district in Bangladesh with a partnership with Islamia Eye Hospital, in Dhaka.
